Hello my name is summer. i am currently a 9th grade student taking the pltw course. one of my favorite projects that we did in class was the truss bridge. the goal of the truss bridge was to design and construct a truss bridge using only balsa wood and wood glue that could hold an excessive amount of weight. this project was very fun and challenging. i enjoyed the breaking part of the project. you can learn a lot from this project. personally i learned how to measure a little better. i think anyone who does the truss bridge project will learn a lot and have a lot of fun.
another project that i really enjoyed doing was the bottle car. it really wasn't hard, but it was a lot of fun. the goal of the project was build a bottle car using a plastic bottle, 9 volt battery, wheels, motor , and a propeller that would travel a specific length in the shortest amount of time. you can learn a lot of patience when doing this project because you will get frustrated with it. personally i learned that something fun can come out of something little.
my last project that i really enjoyed was the marble sorter project. this project was challenging beyond belief. the object of this project was to sketch and construct a machine that would be programed to sort marbles into different bins depending on their color. i learned a lot from this project. i learned that when you use machines, their is a lot of programing behind it. that it's not easy to make something. overall this project was a lot of fun. the best part of it was just seeing that you made something and your hard work wasn't for nothing.
